Newly built stupa in Khiraule, Solukhumbu

Chang Chub Chorten (Stupa) in Khiraule, Solukhumbu rebuilt in 2019. The picture has been captured from western direction. About 45 feet tall stupa “Chang Chub Chorten” ( Bodhi Chaitya “ बोधिचैत्य” in Nepali/Sanskrit ) has been rebuilt in Khiraule village which lies in Mahakulung Rural Municipality ward no. 1 in Solukhumbu district. Chang Chub Chorten that symbolizes Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment under the bodhi tree is one of the eight different types of stupas which is also known as The Stupa of Enlightenment. The very ancient stupa in Khiraule was partially destroyed by the mega earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude that hit Nepal on 25 April 2015. Mrs. Anglhamu Sherpa of Khiraule was the first person who wished to rebuild the stupa. She announced to donate Rs. 950,000/- (Nine lakhs fifty thousand rupees) to rebuild the stupa in the memory of her beloved son, Late Mr. Chhimi Dawa Sherpa who was killed on 25 April 2015 at Everest Base Camp in an avalanche triggered
